Apprentices Act of 1961
Under the Apprentices Act, 1961, employers covered under the Act are mandated to employ a certain number of apprentices as per specified ratio and provide training facilities as per prescribed circular in various specified occupations. There is a total of 136 specified occupations. 217 industries of various categories have been specified to train apprentices. The number of years apprentices undergo training varies from one year to four years depending upon the specified occupation. The minimum educational qualification for entry into the occupation varies from class 5 pass to higher secondary.
